About Us
We've been together for more than 15 years and actually met through our mutual love of waterskiing.  We adopted Caden at birth on Father's Day, 2007.  Our lives have been tremendously blessed ever since and he brings us the most amazing joy and laughter everyday.   

We live in California in Silicon Valley at the base of some beautiful foothills in a neighborhood that faces a wooded creek.  Even though we're right near the heart of suburbia, we often see wild animals and nature's creatures in the area where we live.  We're very active and try to spend time outdoors whenever possible.  We love to cook and collect interesting wine.

One of the things we felt was very important before we adopted Caden was for him to have an ongoing relationship with his birthparents.  To us this is a very important aspect of open adoption.  It's for this reason that we created this blog; so that they can regularly see photos and read stories of his life.  Likewise, it's a great way for our family and friends to keep tabs on us and watch Caden grow up.

Aside from a little satire, a few funny stories and gobs of photos and video, we hope to share our experience parenting as two dads, my life as a stay-at-home dad, and what it's like to live in an area that's generally accepting of us but to travel to places that aren't necessarily that way.  Documenting our life experience today may be interesting to look back on in ten or twenty years when a new generation of people may look at society in different ways.  By no means are we going to post something every time Caden farts or coos (ok, maybe when he farts) but there are a lot of people out there who care about this little guy and not everyone is fortunate enough to live close by with the opportunity to see him often enough. 

This is our attempt to keep everyone posted on how Caden is growing up and progressing.  We hope to update it often with photos and whenever there is newsworthy information to share.  It is written by Dave with creative input provided by John and Caden. 

So, why is it called welive2ski?  That's a bit of a long story but we've had this domain name for a long, long time.  Dave and John really do love to ski, especially on the water and snow.  We used to own a boat and skied almost every weekend in the summers.  Naturally, since Caden came into our lives, we've done little else but slalom up and down the stairs in our house to make bottles and change diapers.  But not to despair!  We'll have this little munchkin behind the boat and on his own snowboard before too long!
